Story:
On the way back to camp after our morning game drive, we came across this giraffe on the side of the road munching away on an acacia tree. Acacia trees are giraffes main food source, eating over 30kg of their leaves every day. After seeing first hand just how much these giraffes consume, I later learnt that if the tree start to feel threatened due to over consumption, they release “tannins” into their leaves which taste terrible to giraffes. It forces them to move to another tree so that they don’t get totally stripped beyond repair. Nature really is incredible!
